St. Margarets Church,Ditchling, East Sussex

 

Among the graves in the churchyard are those of the calligrapher Edward Johnston (1872-1944),designer of the font used by the London Undergound and revered for his revival of the art of formal penmanship. Hilary Pepler the printer and founder of the St. Dominic's Press.
The painter, Amy Sawyer(1863-1945), as well as being a painter, she was an illustrator, playwright, woodcarver and worker in textiles.
Eric Gill's apprentice Joseph Cribb is also buried in the churchyard as is the silversmith Dunstan Pruden.

 
 Ditchling is situated 8 miles north of Brighton on the B2112 and 8 miles west of Lewes on the B2116.
The nearest railway station is Hassocks on the main Victoria and Thameslink line, one and a half miles away.
The nearest public car park is at the village hall, east of the crossroads.
